EPC stands for Energy Performance Certificate.   It was introduced as part of the UK Government’s Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD) and is a record of the energy efficiency levels and CO2 emissions of a building.

Buildings are rated on a scale of A to G where A is the MOST efficient and G the least efficient.

Since May 2010 any landlord or property owner marketing their property for sale or rent is required to produce an EPC in order to comply with Government legislation.
